OUR SERVICES
Digital X-Rays
As part of the examination process, we use dental x-rays to explore parts of your mouth that cannot be seen with direct vision. These x-rays can be used routinely to look for new areas of decay, or specifically to investigate areas of pain, and also during treatment procedures. We use digital x-ray equipment, which significantly lowers your radiation exposure, and also produces better diagnostic images. Within half a minute, we are able to show you the x-ray image on the computer screen, and point out important features to help you understand what is going on in your mouth.
Dentures
Dentures can be a good way to replace multiple missing teeth. They are a removable appliance that is custom-made to fit around the contours of existing teeth and gums. Immediate dentures can be made quite quickly when required.
Routine Exams
Our philosophy at Lakkis Dental Clinic revolves around thorough maintenance of your teeth and gums to try to prevent issues arising in the first place. Regular examinations are encouraged so that small problems don’t become big problems. Many dental issues are initially quite painless and therefore can go undiagnosed for many months. It is important to recognise these problems at an early stage, allowing simpler treatment, and thus reducing the likelihood of toothache and more costly procedures in future.
Cleaning and Gum Care

As part of our preventative approach, we recommend regular cleaning and scaling of your teeth. We all get some build-up of tartar on our teeth which cannot be removed with toothbrushing alone, and this accumulation of bacteria is responsible for the progression of gum disease (gingivitis and periodontitis). Our dentists are mindful that some people can find teeth cleaning uncomfortable, and always take the utmost care to be attentive and gentle. Gum disease is often a chronic, ‘silent’ disease with very subtle early symptoms, but unfortunately it can have devastating effects on our oral health if left untreated. Many people can experience bleeding, swollen or tender gums and sensitivity or loosening of their teeth when gum disease is active.

Tooth Whitening
Tooth whitening or bleaching is a chemical process that whitens natural teeth. We offer a very safe and effective take-home treatment procedure. This involves fabricating upper and lower custom-made flexible-acrylic trays that fit snugly around your teeth and serve to hold the bleaching gel against the tooth surface. The application of this gel into the trays and the process of bleaching is simple enough to do in the comfort and convenience of your home, and for most people, it takes 7 days to achieve the brighter smile they desire..
Crowns and Bridges
We provide more complex prosthodontic treatment such as crowns, for those seriously-weakened teeth requiring more strength, and bridges, which can be a fixed option for replacing missing teeth if dentures are undesirable.
Sometimes a tooth is significantly weakened due to fractures, decay or after root canal treatment. In these cases we may recommend a crown, which is a custom-made porcelain or gold restoration that provides a perfectly-fitting ‘cap’ over the remaining tooth structure. This provides extra strength and longevity for your tooth.
A bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth, by anchoring a solid porcelain tooth between two or more crowned natural teeth. The supporting teeth need to be of good health, and can sometimes themselves benefit from the bridge.
All teeth need to be evaluated thoroughly before deciding if these treatment options are suitable, and we are happy to give information and advice, and will provide quotations for this treatment. We only use highly-reputable local dental technicians and prosthetists to make our crowns and bridges. This assures excellent quality work and good accountability.
Root Canal Treatments
A root canal procedure treats a damaged or infected pulp (nerve) tissue inside a tooth. A dying pulp can sometimes be a very painful experience and our dentists will always be compassionate and gentle during this process.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are a well-established and superior treatment option for replacing missing teeth. A dental implant is the closest thing available to having your own natural tooth.
